Problem

Determine p(c)p(c) using the Remainder Theorem for the given polynomial function and value of cc. If p(c)=0p(c) = 0, factor p(x)=(x−c)q(x)p(x) = (x - c)q(x). p(x)=x4−2x2+4p(x) = x^4 - 2x^2 + 4, c=32c = \dfrac{3}{2}
Intuitive explanation

The Remainder Theorem tells you that when you divide a polynomial p(x)p(x) by (x−c)(x - c), the remainder is simply p(c)p(c)—no division needed. Just substitute cc directly into the polynomial and evaluate. This is much faster than polynomial long division, and it immediately tells you whether (x−c)(x - c) is a factor (which happens exactly when p(c)=0p(c) = 0).
