Problem

A resistor is formed by the conductive liquid between two rectangular metal plates of width W=10 cmW = 10\,\text{cm} and length L=20 cmL = 20\,\text{cm}. The plates are not parallel: the separation distance is d1=1 mmd_{1} = 1\,\text{mm} at one end and d2=3 mmd_{2} = 3\,\text{mm} at the other end. Current flows through the liquid from one plate to the other (perpendicular the surface L×WL \times W). Find the resistance if the liquid resistivity is ρ=5.0 Ω⋅m\rho = 5.0\,\Omega\cdot\text{m}. (Assume current flows in circular arcs or approximate as straight lines perpendicular LL).
