Problem

What determines the validity of a theory?
Intuitive explanation

A theory's validity rests on whether it can reliably predict and explain observations—and critically, whether it survives attempts to prove it wrong. The key insight is that science doesn't prove theories true; instead, we build confidence by testing predictions against real data and ruling out false alternatives. A valid theory must be falsifiable (capable of being disproven), internally consistent, and supported by reproducible evidence across diverse conditions.
