Problem

Find the real zeros of the polynomial using the techniques specified by your instructor. State the multiplicity of each real zero. f(x)=x4−9x2+14f(x) = x^4 - 9x^2 + 14
Intuitive explanation

This is a quadratic in disguise—notice that f(x)f(x) contains only even powers of xx. If you substitute u=x2u = x^2, you get a standard quadratic in uu that you can factor or solve. Once you find the values of uu, remember that each positive uu gives you two real values of xx (positive and negative), and the exponent on each factor tells you the multiplicity of that zero.
