Problem

A golfer strikes a ball from level ground with an initial speed of 38 m s−138\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1} at an angle of 35∘35^{\circ} above the horizontal. Neglect air resistance. (a) Determine the time the golf ball remains in the air before landing at the same vertical level from which it was struck. (b) Calculate the horizontal distance the ball travels in that time. (c) If the same shot were made on a planet where the free-fall acceleration is 12 m s−212\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-2}, with all other conditions unchanged, compute the new horizontal distance. (Assume the launch and landing heights are still the same.)
