Problem

A siphon tube of uniform cross-sectional area A=1.0  cm2A = 1.0\;\text{cm}^2 is used to drain water from a tank. The water surface is at height h1=0.50  mh_1 = 0.50\;\text{m} above the outlet, and the highest point of the siphon tube is at height h2=0.30  mh_2 = 0.30\;\text{m} above the water surface. Find the flow speed at the outlet and the pressure at the highest point. Assume steady, inviscid flow. Use ρ=1000  kg/m3\rho = 1000\;\text{kg/m}^3, g=9.8  m/s2g = 9.8\;\text{m/s}^2, p0=1.01×105  Pap_0 = 1.01 \times 10^5\;\text{Pa}.
