Problem

Suppose TT is a normal operator on a Hilbert space. ((a)) Prove that if α\alpha is an eigenvalue of TT, then ∣α∣2|\alpha|^2 is an eigenvalue of T∗TT^*T. ((b)) Prove that if α∈sp(T)\alpha \in \mathrm{sp}(T), then ∣α∣2∈sp(T∗T)|\alpha|^2 \in \mathrm{sp}(T^*T).
