Problem

a. (i) Derive an expression for the electron mobility μ\mu of a conductor in terms of its resistivity ρ\rho, free-electron number density nn and electronic charge ee. b. (ii) Using your result, calculate the mobility of electrons in copper given ρ=1.7×10−8 Ω m\rho=1.7\times10^{-8}\,\Omega\,\text{m} and n=8.5×1028 m−3n=8.5\times10^{28}\,\text{m}^{-3}. (Use e=1.6×10−19 Ce=1.6\times10^{-19}\,\text{C}.)
