Problem

Two small balls of mass m=1 kgm = 1\,\text{kg} each are connected by a massless rod of length L=2 mL = 2\,\text{m}. The system rotates in a horizontal plane about a vertical axis passing through the center of the rod with angular velocity 10 rad/s10\,\text{rad/s}. If the axis is instantly shifted to pass through one of the balls (parallel to the original axis), what is the new moment of inertia of the system about this new axis?
