Problem

A conducting ring of mass mm, radius aa, and resistance RR falls vertically along the axis of a magnetic dipole. At a point where the axial field is BB and its gradient is dB/dzdB/dz, the ring moves at speed vv. Find the retarding force on the ring due to the induced current.
