Problem

Suppose TT is a bounded operator on a Hilbert space VV. ((a)) Prove that sp(S−1TS)=sp(T)\mathrm{sp}(S^{-1}TS) = \mathrm{sp}(T) for all bounded invertible operators SS on VV. ((b)) Prove that sp(T∗)={αˉ:α∈sp(T)}\mathrm{sp}(T^*) = \{\bar{\alpha} : \alpha \in \mathrm{sp}(T)\}. ((c)) Prove that if TT is invertible, then sp(T−1)={1α:α∈sp(T)}\mathrm{sp}(T^{-1}) = \left\{\frac{1}{\alpha} : \alpha \in \mathrm{sp}(T)\right\}.
