Problem

A car originally uses tyres of diameter 0.60 m0.60\,\text{m}. After a puncture, the driver fits a spare tyre whose diameter is 0.55 m0.55\,\text{m} and then drives exactly 10 km10\,\text{km}. (i) Calculate the number of revolutions made by the original tyre had it been used over the 10 km10\,\text{km} distance. (ii) Determine the number of revolutions actually made by the spare tyre over the same distance. (iii) Compute the additional number of revolutions the spare tyre makes compared to the original tyre and comment briefly on one practical consequence of this difference for tyre wear.
