Problem

An automobile of mass 1000 kg1000\,\text{kg} is travelling on a level road at 15 m s−115\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1} when the brakes are applied so that the wheels lock and slide. If the coefficient of kinetic friction between the tyres and the road is 0.600.60, calculate the distance over which the car comes to rest. (Take g=9.8 m s−2g=9.8\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-2}.)
