Problem

Using Eq. (15.16), show that cosmic-ray particles with energies of greater than 101910^{19} eV are not likely to be bound to the Milky Way Galaxy. (A characteristic size scale for the Galaxy is about 30 kpc.) What about particles with energies in the range of 101610^{16} eV to 101910^{19} eV?
