Problem

For TT a bounded operator on a Banach space, define eTe^T by eT=∑k=0∞Tkk!.e^T = \sum_{k=0}^{\infty} \frac{T^k}{k!}. ((a)) Prove that if TT is a bounded operator on a Banach space VV, then the infinite sum above converges in B(V)\mathcal{B}(V) and ∥eT∥≤e∥T∥\|e^T\| \leq e^{\|T\|}. ((b)) Prove that if S,TS, T are bounded operators on a Banach space VV such that ST=TSST = TS, then eSeT=eS+Te^S e^T = e^{S+T}. ((c)) Prove that if TT is a self-adjoint operator on a complex Hilbert space, then eiTe^{iT} is unitary.
