Problem

Let a=⟨3,−2,1⟩\mathbf{a}=\langle 3,-2,1\rangle and b=⟨k,4,−2⟩\mathbf{b}=\langle k,4,-2\rangle, where kk is a real number. a. (i) Calculate a ⁣⋅ ⁣b\mathbf{a}\!\cdot\!\mathbf{b} when k=1k=1. b. (ii) Find the value of kk for which a\mathbf{a} and b\mathbf{b} are perpendicular. c. (iii) For the value of kk obtained in part (ii), determine the angle between a\mathbf{a} and b+a\mathbf{b}+\mathbf{a}, giving your answer in degrees to the nearest whole number.
