Problem

Suppose a fermion ψ\psi of mass mm interacts with a Hermitian scalar ϕ\phi of mass μ\mu with LI=hψˉψϕ,\mathcal{L}_I = h\bar{\psi}\psi\phi, where hh is small. (a) Calculate the spin-averaged differential cross section for ψ(p⃗1)ψ(p⃗2)→ψ(p⃗3)ψ(p⃗4)\psi(\vec{p}_1)\psi(\vec{p}_2) \to \psi(\vec{p}_3)\psi(\vec{p}_4) in the CM in terms of the invariants ss, tt, and uu. (b) Specialize to m=μ=0m = \mu = 0. Show that the scattering is isotropic in that limit and calculate the total cross section.
