Problem

Prove that an absolutely convergent series ∑n=1∞an\displaystyle\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} a_n is convergent. Hint: Put bn=an+∣an∣b_n = a_n + |a_n|. Then the bnb_n are nonnegative; we have ∣bn∣≤2∣an∣|b_n| \leq 2|a_n| and an=bn−∣an∣a_n = b_n - |a_n|.
