During an expansion of an ideal gas the pressure varies with volume according to the linear relation P=a+bV, where a and b are constants.
a. (i) Derive an expression for the work done when the volume changes from V1 to V2 under this relation.
b. (ii) For a particular gas sample, a=1.0×105Pa and b=−2.0×106Pam−3. Calculate the work done as the volume increases from 0.015m3 to 0.030m3.
c. (iii) If 350 J of heat is supplied to the gas during the same process, determine the change in internal energy of the gas.
