Problem

Three blocks A (2\,kg), B (3\,kg) and C (5\,kg) are placed one above the other in that order on a horizontal table. The coefficients of static friction are: between A and B, 0.50; between B and C, 0.40; between C and the table, 0.20. A horizontal force F is applied on the bottom block C. Take g=10 m s−2g = 10\,\text{m\,s}^{-2}. a. (i) Determine the greatest value of F for which all three blocks move together without any slipping at any interface. b. (ii) If F is fixed at 35\,N, calculate the acceleration of each block and the frictional force at every contact surface.
