Problem

(a) Show that if α\alpha and β\beta are elements of Z[D]\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{D}] such that α\alpha is a unit times β\beta, then N(α)=±N(β)N(\alpha) = \pm N(\beta). (b) Either prove or give a counterexample to the following statement: If α\alpha and β\beta are Gaussian integers with N(α)=N(β)N(\alpha) = N(\beta) then α\alpha is a unit times β\beta.
