Problem

A tennis ball is launched from ground level to land on a balcony. The balcony is 6 m6\,\text{m} high and 8 m8\,\text{m} horizontally from the launch point. The ball reaches its maximum height exactly at the horizontal position of the balcony edge (x=8 mx = 8\,\text{m}) but continues to travel, landing on the balcony floor which extends beyond the edge. If the ball lands 2 m2\,\text{m} beyond the edge of the balcony, calculate the cosine of the initial launch angle. (Take g=10 m/s2g = 10\,\text{m/s}^{2} and 89=9.43\sqrt{89} = 9.43)
