Problem

Let {xn}n=1∞\{x_n\}_{n=1}^\infty be a sequence and define a sequence {yn}n=1∞\{y_n\}_{n=1}^\infty by y2k:=xk2y_{2k} := x_{k^2} and y2k−1:=xky_{2k-1} := x_k for all k∈Nk \in \mathbb{N}. Prove that {xn}n=1∞\{x_n\}_{n=1}^\infty converges if and only if {yn}n=1∞\{y_n\}_{n=1}^\infty converges. Furthermore, prove that if they converge, then lim⁡n→∞xn=lim⁡n→∞yn\lim_{n\to\infty} x_n = \lim_{n\to\infty} y_n.
