Problem

A force of magnitude 25 N25\,\text{N} acts on a body at an angle of 40∘40^{\circ} above the positive x-axis. (a) Calculate the horizontal (x) and vertical (y) components of this force. (b) A second force of magnitude 15 N15\,\text{N} acts vertically downward along the negative y-axis. Resolve this force into its rectangular components. (c) Using the component method, determine the magnitude and the direction of the resultant of the two forces with respect to the positive x-axis.
