Problem

Let k∈Nk \in \mathbb{N}. Let GG and HH be two simple graphs. Assume that each of GG and HH has a proper kk-coloring. Prove that the Cartesian product G×HG \times H (defined in Definition 2.14.11) has a proper kk-coloring as well. [Remark: It is easy to see that the converse holds as well (i.e., if G×HG \times H has a proper kk-coloring, then so do GG and HH), provided that the vertex sets V(G)V(G) and V(H)V(H) are both nonempty.]
