Problem

Soft snow collapses when the pressure on its surface exceeds 2.5×103 Pa2.5\times10^{3}\,\text{Pa}. A hiker whose total weight is 800 N wears two identical snowshoes, but at any instant only one snowshoe is in full contact with the snow. Determine the minimum area each snowshoe must have to prevent the snow from collapsing. Express your answer in square metres.
