Problem

At the initial instant t=0t = 0, a system is in a state ψ1(0)\psi_1^{(0)} which belongs to a doubly degenerate level. Determine the probability that, at a subsequent instant tt, the system will be in the state ψ2(0)\psi_2^{(0)} with the same energy; the transition occurs under the action of a constant perturbation.
