Problem
The Green's function G(xσ−yσ) satisfies the equation
□x2G(xσ−yσ)=δ(4)(xσ−yσ).
Show that the four-dimensional Dirac delta function can be written as
δ(4)(xσ−yσ)=(2π)41∫exp[ikλ(xλ−yλ)]d4k.
Hence, by writing the Green's function in terms of its Fourier transform G(kσ), show that
G(xσ−yσ)=−(2π)41∫k21exp[ikλ(xλ−yλ)]d4k,
where k2=kλkλ.
