Physics — Landau & Lifshitz · one-dimensional-similarity-flow

Problem

An infinite pipe is divided by a piston, on one side of which (x<0x < 0) there is, at the initial instant, gas at pressure p0p_0, and on the other side a vacuum. Determine the motion of the piston as the gas expands.
