Problem

For the reaction  01n+  510B  →  37Li+  24He+γ\,_0^1\text n +\;_{5}^{10}\text B \;\rightarrow\;_{3}^{7}\text{Li}+\;_{2}^{4}\text{He}+\gamma, both the neutron and the boron nucleus are initially at rest. Given masses: m(01n)=1.00866 u,  m(510B)=10.01294 u,  m(37Li)=7.01600 u,  m(24He)=4.00260 u,m(_0^1\text n)=1.00866\,\text u,\; m(_{5}^{10}\text B)=10.01294\,\text u,\; m(_{3}^{7}\text{Li})=7.01600\,\text u,\; m(_{2}^{4}\text{He})=4.00260\,\text u, with 1 u=931.5 MeV/c21\,\text u = 931.5\,\text{MeV}/c^2. (a) Find the Q-value of the reaction. (b) Assuming the kinetic energies of the product nuclei are negligible, calculate the energy (in MeV) carried away by the γ\gamma photon.
