Problem

Suppose VV and WW are finite-dimensional and T∈L(V,W)T \in \mathcal{L}(V, W). (a) Prove that if φ∈W′\varphi \in W' and null⁡T′=span⁡(φ)\operatorname{null} T' = \operatorname{span}(\varphi), then range⁡T=null⁡φ\operatorname{range} T = \operatorname{null} \varphi. (b) Prove that if ψ∈V′\psi \in V' and range⁡T′=span⁡(ψ)\operatorname{range} T' = \operatorname{span}(\psi), then null⁡T=null⁡ψ\operatorname{null} T = \operatorname{null} \psi.
