Problem

Suppose (X,d)(X,d) is a nonempty complete metric space, f:X→Xf: X \to X is a mapping, and denote by fnf^n the nnth iterate of ff. Suppose for every nn there exists a kn>0k_n > 0 such that d(fn(x),fn(y))≤kn d(x,y)d\bigl(f^n(x), f^n(y)\bigr) \leq k_n\, d(x,y) for all x,y∈Xx, y \in X, where ∑n=1∞kn<∞\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} k_n < \infty. Prove that ff has a unique fixed point in XX.
