Problem

In △ABC\triangle ABC, AB=12 cmAB = 12\,\text{cm} and AC=18 cmAC = 18\,\text{cm}. Points DD and EE are taken on ABAB and ACAC respectively such that AD:AB=AE:AC=2:5AD : AB = AE : AC = 2 : 5. a. (i) Prove that △ADE∼△ABC\triangle ADE \sim \triangle ABC. b. (ii) Find the lengths ADAD and AEAE. c. (iii) Determine the ratio of the areas [△ADE]:[△ABC][\triangle ADE] : [\triangle ABC]. d. (iv) Hence find the area of △ADE\triangle ADE if [△ABC]=270 cm2[\triangle ABC] = 270\,\text{cm}^2.
