Problem

Let p:X~→Xp: \tilde{X} \to X be the universal cover of a path-connected space XX. Show that under the isomorphism πn(X)≈πn(X~)\pi_n(X) \approx \pi_n(\tilde{X}), which holds for n≥2n \geq 2, the action of π1(X)\pi_1(X) on πn(X)\pi_n(X) corresponds to the action of π1(X)\pi_1(X) on πn(X~)\pi_n(\tilde{X}) induced by the action of π1(X)\pi_1(X) on X~\tilde{X} as deck transformations. More precisely, prove a formula like γp∗(α)=p∗(βγ~(γ∗(α)))\gamma p_*(\alpha) = p_*(\beta_{\tilde{\gamma}}(\gamma_*(\alpha))) where γ∈π1(X,x0)\gamma \in \pi_1(X, x_0), α∈πn(X~,x~0)\alpha \in \pi_n(\tilde{X}, \tilde{x}_0), and γ∗\gamma_* denotes the homomorphism induced by the action of γ\gamma on X~\tilde{X}.
