Problem

The equilibrium constant of the reaction SO3⇌SO2+12O2\text{SO}_3 \rightleftharpoons \text{SO}_2 + \tfrac{1}{2}\text{O}_2 has the value 171.9 Pa1/2171.9\ \text{Pa}^{1/2} at T=1000T = 1000 K. Assuming 1 mole of SO2\text{SO}_2 and 2 moles of O2\text{O}_2 are introduced into a vessel and maintained at a pressure of 0.4 MPa, find the number of moles of SO3\text{SO}_3 present in equilibrium.
