Problem

(a) Find the radii of the light cylinders for the Crab pulsar and for the slowest pulsar, PSR 1841-0456. Compare these values to the radius of a 1.4 M⊙\mathrm{M_\odot} neutron star. (b) The strength of a magnetic dipole is proportional to 1/r31/r^3. Determine the ratio of the magnetic field strengths at the light cylinder for the Crab pulsar and for PSR 1841-0456.
