Problem

Consider a system whose state ∣ψ(t)⟩|\psi(t)\rangle and two observables AA and BB are given by ∣ψ(t)⟩=13(−i20),A=12(1i1−i00100),B=(30001i0−i0).|\psi(t)\rangle = \frac{1}{\sqrt{3}} \begin{pmatrix} -i \\ 2 \\ 0 \end{pmatrix}, \quad A = \frac{1}{\sqrt{2}} \begin{pmatrix} 1 & i & 1 \\ -i & 0 & 0 \\ 1 & 0 & 0 \end{pmatrix}, \quad B = \begin{pmatrix} 3 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 1 & i \\ 0 & -i & 0 \end{pmatrix}. (a) Are AA and BB compatible? Which among the sets of operators {A^}\{\hat{A}\}, {B^}\{\hat{B}\}, and {A^,B^}\{\hat{A}, \hat{B}\} form a complete set of commuting operators? (b) Measuring AA first and then BB immediately afterwards, find the probability of obtaining a value of −1-1 for AA and a value of 33 for BB. (c) Now, measuring BB first then AA immediately afterwards, find the probability of obtaining 33 for BB and −1-1 for AA. Compare this result with the probability obtained in (b).
