Problem

A long non-conducting, massless rod of length LL pivoted at its centre and balanced with a weight ww at a distance xx from the left end. At the left and right ends of the rod are attached small conducting spheres with positive charges qq and 2q2q respectively. A distance hh directly beneath each of these spheres is a fixed sphere with positive charge QQ. Note Ignore the force between QQ (beneath qq) and 2q2q and the force between QQ (beneath 2q2q) and qq. Also the force between QQ and QQ. a. Find the distance xx where the rod is horizontal and balanced. b. What value should hh have so that the rod exerts no vertical force on the bearing when the rod is horizontal and balanced?
