Problem

Show that when we add j1j_1 to j1j_1, the states with j=2j1j = 2j_1 are symmetric. Show that the states with j=2j1−1j = 2j_1 - 1 are antisymmetric. (Argue for the symmetry of the top states and show that lowering does not change symmetry.) This pattern of alternating symmetry continues as jj decreases, but is harder to prove.
