Problem

Two masses m1m_1 and m2m_2 (m1≠m2m_1 \neq m_2) are connected by a rigid rod of length dd and of negligible mass. An extensionless string of length l1l_1 is attached to m1m_1 and connected to a fixed point of support PP. Similarly, a string of length l2l_2 (l1≠l2l_1 \neq l_2) connects m2m_2 and PP. Obtain the equation describing the motion in the plane of m1m_1, m2m_2, and PP, and find the frequency of small oscillations around the equilibrium position.
