Problem

Using the data in Appendix C, estimate the Roche limit for the Mars--Phobos system. Phobos's mean density is 20002000 kg m−3^{-3} and it orbits at a distance of 9.4×1069.4 \times 10^6 m. Explain the suggestion that Mars may develop a small ring system in the future.
