Problem

The molecules of a solid attract one another with a force F(r)=α(1/r)5F(r) = \alpha(1/r)^5. Two semi-infinite solids composed of nn molecules per unit volume are separated by a distance dd, i.e. the solids fill the whole of the space with x≤0x \leq 0 and x≥dx \geq d. Calculate the force of attraction, per unit area of the surface, between the two solids.
