Problem

Give an example of a Banach space VV, a normed vector space WW, a bounded linear map TT of VV onto WW, and an open subset GG of VV such that T(G)T(G) is not an open subset of WW. [This exercise shows that the hypothesis in the Open Mapping Theorem that WW is a Banach space cannot be relaxed to the hypothesis that WW is a normed vector space.]
