Problem

Suppose u,vu, v are nonzero vectors in R2\mathbf{R}^2. Prove that ⟨u,v⟩=∥u∥ ∥v∥cos⁡θ,\langle u, v \rangle = \|u\|\, \|v\| \cos\theta, where θ\theta is the angle between uu and vv (thinking of uu and vv as arrows with initial point at the origin). Hint: Use the law of cosines on the triangle formed by uu, vv, and u−vu - v.
