Problem

Consider a sequence of functions fn:[0,1]→Rf_n : [0, 1] \to \mathbb{R} so that there is a sequence of distinct numbers xn∈[0,1]x_n \in [0, 1] such that for all nn, fn(xn)=1.f_n(x_n) = 1. Prove or disprove the following statements: (a)) True or false: There exists {fn}n=1∞\{f_n\}_{n=1}^\infty as above that converges pointwise to 00. (b)) True or false: There exists {fn}n=1∞\{f_n\}_{n=1}^\infty as above that converges uniformly to 00.
