Problem

Find the ss-wave phase shift for scattering from a finite spherical well: V(r)={−V0,r<a0,r>aV(r) = \begin{cases} -V_0, & r < a \\ 0, & r > a \end{cases} with V0>0V_0 > 0. Show that tan⁡(δ0+ka)=kκtan⁡(κa)\tan(\delta_0 + ka) = \frac{k}{\kappa}\tan(\kappa a) where κ=2m(E+V0)/ℏ\kappa = \sqrt{2m(E+V_0)}/\hbar and k=2mE/ℏk = \sqrt{2mE}/\hbar. Determine the condition for a zero-energy resonance (i.e., δ0=π/2\delta_0 = \pi/2 as k→0k\to 0).
