Problem

The potential across a 3 μF capacitor is 12 V when it is not connected to anything. It is then connected in parallel with an uncharged 6 μF capacitor. At equilibrium, the charge qq on the 3 μF capacitor and the potential difference VV across it are (a) q=12q = 12 μC, V=4V = 4 V; (b) q=24q = 24 μC, V=8V = 8 V; (c) q=36q = 36 μC, V=12V = 12 V; (d) q=12q = 12 μC, V=6V = 6 V.
