Problem Consider the following two kets:
∣ ψ ⟩ = ( 5 i 2 − i ) , ∣ ϕ ⟩ = ( 3 8 i − 9 i ) . |\psi\rangle = \begin{pmatrix} 5i \\ 2 \\ -i \end{pmatrix}, \qquad |\phi\rangle = \begin{pmatrix} 3 \\ 8i \\ -9i \end{pmatrix}. ∣ ψ ⟩ = 5 i 2 − i , ∣ ϕ ⟩ = 3 8 i − 9 i .
(a) Find ∣ ψ ⟩ ∗ |\psi\rangle^* ∣ ψ ⟩ ∗ and ⟨ ψ ∣ \langle\psi| ⟨ ψ ∣ .
(b) Is ∣ ψ ⟩ |\psi\rangle ∣ ψ ⟩ normalized? If not, normalize it.
(c) Are ∣ ψ ⟩ |\psi\rangle ∣ ψ ⟩ and ∣ ϕ ⟩ |\phi\rangle ∣ ϕ ⟩ orthogonal?
