Problem

A small pendulum bob of mass 0.20 kg0.20\,\text{kg} is attached to a rigid, massless rod of length 0.80 m0.80\,\text{m}. The pivot of the rod is connected to the ceiling by a light vertical spring of force constant 120 N m−1120\,\text{N\,m}^{-1}. When the bob hangs motionless directly beneath the pivot, the spring is neither stretched nor compressed. The bob is then pulled sideways until the rod makes an angle of 25∘25^{\circ} with the vertical, held at rest, and released. parts:[{"content":"(a) Identify all forms of mechanical energy that are present in the system at the instant the bob is released from rest."},{"content":"(b) Describe qualitatively how the distribution among those energy forms changes as the bob swings down to the lowest point of its trajectory."},{"content":"(c) Describe qualitatively how the distribution among energy forms changes as the bob rises on the opposite side to its first maximum angle."},{"content":"(d) Suppose the experiment is repeated with a spring of much larger force constant while all other conditions remain the same. Explain how, if at all, the maximum angle reached on the far side will differ from the original case."}]
