Problem

In a YDSE a parallel beam of light of wavelength 6000A˚6000\text{\AA} is incident on slits at angle of incidence 30∘30^\circ. A and B are two thin transparent films each of refractive index 1.5. Thickness of A is 20.4μm20.4 \mu\text{m}. Light coming through A and B have intensities II and 4I4I respectively on the screen. Intensity at point O which is symmetric relative to the slits is 3I3I. The central maxima is above O. What is the maximum thickness of B (in μm\mu\text{m}). ![Diagram illustrating the setup for a Young's Double Slit Experiment (YDSE) with slits A and B. The slits are separated by 0.1 mm. The distance from the slits to the screen is 1 m. The incident light beam is shown at an angle of incidence of 30 degrees relative to the normal of the slits.](https://storage.googleapis.com/diraq-contents/homework-question-parsing/marker/20260106T182719Z/564d263d84214047a3359291d0aea7dd/30a26f2d17ca95672702bf50fb4f0242_img.jpg)
